Introduction To WordPress Admin Area

The WordPress admin area generally known as back-end of your blog is a place where you can configure the settings of WordPress, install themes and plugins, publish content, and more

When You login to your WordPress, You will land on a WordPress Admin Panel which looks like this

Dashboard > Home is the default page when you login to your WordPress Admin Panel, In the top menu you will see different menus :

First, you can see WordPress Logo written as ” W ” when you hover your mouse over it, a drop-down menu will open consisting of five submenu :

  • About WordPress
  • WordPress.org
  • Documentation
  • Support Forum
  • Feedback

These menus are very rarely used by a blogger but as from the name you can know why it is used

Second, You can see ” A WordPress Site ” where on customization your blog name will appear like

When you hover your mouse over it, You will get a ” visit ” submenu by clicking on which you can visit the front-end of your blog

Third, you can see something like ” refresh button ” with some number, by clicking on which will update all installed themes and plugins on your blog
Note : sometimes this option is not there, no need to worry as top menus are rarely used by the blogger.

Fourth, you can see a comment box with some numbers clicking on which will open a page with all unapproved comments, you can approve them here so that it can get published on your blog

Fifth, you will see a ” + New ” hovering over it will give a drop-down menu with four submenus

Post : you can create new post by clicking on it

Page : you can create a new page by clicking on it

Media : you can upload a new media by clicking on it

User : you can add users to your blog by clicking on it

Sixth, you can see here ” GoDaddy ” as my hosting provider is godaddy and this menu can change with the change in hosting provider

Note : Menu can be added in top menu bar after installing a new features or plugins to your blog, but you need not to worry as i always recommend you to use sidebar menu
